Locking and unlocking

Overview

Layers can be locked to prevent accidental movement, style changes, or deletion. There are three types of locks:

  1. Position only: Locks the layer's position but allows changes to its style.

  2. Style only: Locks the layer's style but allows movement of the layer.

  3. Position & Style: Locks both the layer's position and style.

Lock a Layer:

  1. Open context menu: Right click on the Layer to be locked. And select the Lock Option.

  2. Select Lock Type: Select one of the 3 options show:

    • Position only

    • Style only

    • Position & Style

Unlock a Layer:

There are two ways to Unlock a layer:

  1. Use lock icon: Click on the layer you want to unlock. You will see a Lock Icon either above or below the layer. Click the icon to unlock the layer.

  2. Unlock button: Right-click on the locked layer and select the Unlock option from the context menu.

Note:

When a layer is locked, its Layer Style Editor will appear on the left side of the Canvas, but with a light blue tint covering it. Hovering over the style will prompt you to unlock the layer to make any changes. To unlock the layer, either right-click on the layer or click the lock button icon located above or below the layer.
